How to delete your account and associated personal data from TRUZH, the marketplace at truzh.com and through the TRUZH app for Android. You can use this page even if you no longer have the app installed.

Step by step

1. How to delete your account

Option A - In the app

Open the TRUZH app and sign in.
Go to Settings, then the Account tab.
In "Delete my account", tap "Delete account".
Type DELETE to confirm, then tap "Delete account permanently".

Option B - On the website

Sign in at truzh.com.
Go to Settings, then the Account tab.
In "Delete my account", tap "Delete account".
Type DELETE to confirm, then tap "Delete account permanently".

Option C - By email

No app or login required. Email the address registered to your account to privacy@truzh.com with the subject "Account deletion request", including your registered email and display name. We may send a one-time confirmation message to verify the request comes from the account holder.

TRUZH will never ask for your password, card details or a verification code by email, chat or phone. Any message requesting them is a phishing attempt.

2. What happens after you request deletion

Immediately: your account is deactivated, your profile is hidden and your listings are removed from the marketplace.
Within 30 days: your account and the associated personal data listed below are permanently deleted from our active systems. We confirm completion by email.
Backups: residual copies in encrypted backups are overwritten automatically within 35 days of deletion and are not used for any other purpose in the meantime.

Deletion is permanent. A deleted account, its listings, messages and reputation cannot be restored. If you wish to use TRUZH again later, you will need to create a new account.

3. Data we delete

Data	What happens
Account and profile	Name, email address, profile photo, preferences and login credentials are deleted.
Community verification	Your university or workplace affiliation record is deleted.
Listings and photos	All listings, descriptions and uploaded images are deleted.
Messages	Messages you sent are deleted. In the other participant's inbox the conversation is shown as from "Deleted user", with your message content removed.
Favourites and activity	Saved items, searches and in-app activity linked to your account are deleted.
Device data	Push notification tokens and app identifiers linked to your account are deleted.

4. Data we may retain, and why

We keep a limited amount of information only where the law requires it or where it is strictly necessary to protect other users.

5. Deleting specific data without closing your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove individual items. You can at any time:

Delete or mark as sold any of your listings, which also removes their photos.
Change or remove your profile photo and edit your profile details.
Withdraw consent to analytics in the app or through Cookie Settings on the website.
Request deletion of any other specific data by writing to privacy@truzh.com.
